PLEASE STOP THE MISOGYNY AND SUPPORT AFGHAN WOMEN AND GIRLS. WE WANT FREEDOM. WE WANT LIFE

Humaira
Engineering student, Mazar

Before the Taliban, I was studying water supply engineering at university. I was in my third year and had an average of 98%.

At first, they allowed us to go university wearing the hijab and niqab. But later, they closed our university. So, I have been at home for three months now.

Before the Taliban, we could go anywhere and we could study anything we wanted. But now I can’t continue my studies because the Taliban won’t allow girls to study engineering.

For me it’s very important that girls can continue their education, in universities and in schools, because I’m a girl and it’s my dream to become an engineer. And I know it that all Afghan girls have dreams like me. All of us want to achieve our dreams.

I hope that one day Afghan girls and women will be able to continue their education and do anything they want without force or fear. It’s my dream and it’s all Afghan girls’ dream.

I think it’s not only Afghan girls and women’s problem. It is a [symptom of] the inability and weakness of all women around the world. But it also shows women’s ability. I’m sure that if all women are united and support each other, then it can be better for us. We can [unite to advocate] for all women’s future.

My message for the international community is that women can do anything for their country and their dreams if they have the same opportunities as men. There is no difference between men and women in that sense.
